Analysis of Trainer Adverts

The point of this advert is to try to make a person buy the product that they are advertising. The product is a pair of running trainers. In this advert one of the shoes are bent and have the other shoes balancing on it. The main part of this advert are the shoes. This reflects the style of the product being very flexible and makes you think that the shoe would mould to your foot and be comfortable to wear.  This advert is showing the shape of the shoe and how clean it is, I know this because how the advert only has a clean picture of a shoe and doesn't add anything else to the advert. I think that the target audience are mainly middle aged adults because of the way this poster is designed. This sort of plain advert wouldn't attract teens to the shoe but I think it would attract adults. I think they would have made this advert by setting up a white background and a camera and taking a photo of it. However they could have made this on photoshop by taking a photos of the shoes individually and then put them together after the photos have been taken. In an advertising campaign for this sort of sport trainers I would make sure the image was quite plain and basic with only a image of the shoes, with maybe the slogan of the brand. 

This advert is also to make people buy there shoes or any other product that they sell. In this advert there are a line of different types of vans shoe on top of a skate ramp, there are also people on skateboards wearing to shoes and one person is going a trick. The main feature of this advert is the the shoes lined up a long together. The shoes in the line also can lead you to where it says 'Off The Wall!' The way this is does is by the way the shoes curve and they lead to people which then leads to the writing. I think they have given the advert a clear story line about being skateboarding shoes because vans were first invented to be skating shoes so they have kept with the main purpose and used it to advertise. The main theme of this advert is the skateboarding. This reflects the products style because the shoes are made for skating but ave now become more of a fashion statement. The target audience are definitely teens who either skate or want to wear the shoes as fashion, most people buy these shoes because of the brand. I think this advert could be made using photographs they have taken and then photoshop to put the photos together and edit the colours slightly. In a advert for shoes like vans I would make sure to reflect on the main reason the shoes where invented and I would make sure that is was eye catching and colourful. 

This advert is to make people buy the shoe. In this advert the shoe is disappearing into different things like flowers, plants and birds. I think that the main feature of this advert is the plants around where the main nike logo is, so the main logo is the main feature. I think that they have given the advert a pure storyline to kept it simple but at the same time make is a bit complicated. The theme of this advert is the nature and outdoors. This reflects the products style because all different sorts of people can wear the shoes and all the different things that the shoe turns into. I think that the target audience are teens or young adults because of the way the shoes are advertised. The shoes changes into different things which could make it interesting and eye catching to teens, most teens wear this sort of shoes because to fashion and the brand. I think that this advert was created by using photoshop to insert all of the different features that they have included in this image. Something to include when advertising a shoe like this is to make sure that the poster is eye catching and will include things to make people who wear the shoe interested.

Evaluation and Comparison of Photoshop and Illustrator 

Photoshop and Illustrator can be used for many different reasons and many different people use them.  Some people can would use photo shop many be a photographer, to edit and enhance their images. Animators many use photoshop to create their video or edit photos to create the image they want to animate. Fashion design can also use photoshop, they use this to start to create and design the piece they want to make before making it in reality. Also many different people can use Illustrator as well as photoshop, for example illustrator many use it to design there image. Graphic designers use illustrator to make their image with shape shapes and lines. Animators could also use illustrator to design a character or setting. Illustrator is also used to make logos.

Photoshop and Illustrator work on different formats, photoshop works on pixels and illustrator works on vectors. Photos made with pixels are made up from tiny squares of colours put together to form an image. This means you can move and edit as photo much more easily, you can change the perspective of the image or edit something out of the image. However illustrator is almost like a black piece of paper that you have to use drawing tools or shapes to create a image. This images are all made of vectors which are small lines, this makes it easier to change to scale of the image without losing the quality.

We used Photoshop to create a composite image, an image that is surreal. We has to use photoshop to create the image we wanted, using the pictures we had chosen. The image I chose to make was a had coming out of a computer screen. For this I had to find the images of a computer and a hand and then in photoshop drag the hand picture onto the computer image. This created a new layer where I had to then make the image disappear and use the brush tool how to bring back the parts of the image I wanted. This is called adding a mask layer. I Learnt how to use a mask layer to make a composite image.

We also used Illustrator to create a timeline of the companies logo. For this I created a timeline of the converse logo however my timeline was in the style of a skate park. I used illustrator to create the shapes of the park. To do this I had to use a combination of straight and curved lines. Once I had my shapes outline I had to use a variety of shape to fill the outlines in with block colour. I also had to use the brush tool for some parts because there were no shapes that fitted into the shape I had to fill. I learnt about all of the difference shapes to can make and how to fill those shapes in. Also I found out how to use the anchor tool to change the way a line curved.

During these task I gained some ideas for future projects using these programs. Once idea that I had was using Photoshop making another different composite image. This idea was to have a picture of the world under the see with all the different tourist attractions, for example the London Eye or Big Ben. However for illustrator I up with ideas to redesign logos to make adverts for something.

I enjoyed different elements of using both programs. On Photoshop I enjoyed using the mask layer to create something that could never really happen, I liked the idea for how we could create anything. I also enjoy having to only make certain parts of the image come through onto of a different picture. Although on illustrator I enjoyed be able to change the way a line curved so I could have it exactly how I wanted it to look.  However on Illustrator I didn't really enjoy to the fact that you had to use different shapes to fill in the shapes that we created because there were only certain shapes you could use. Also on photoshop it was more challenging to get exactly the right part of the picture come through, because sometime it was hard because of how smaller shape i had to get rid of.

The Advantage of using Photoshop are they you can change perspective of images to fit a certain picture. You can also make a surreal image come to life. As well as this a benefit of photoshop is that if you were uploading an image to a we site you wouldn't need to change the format of the image. Also you can select different parts of an image that you want to keep or copy onto another work space. However some benefits of Illustrator are that no matter what size you make the image you keep the same quality you started with. Also you can create any different shape you want that you can make on photoshop.

Some of the draw back for photoshop are that there are a lot of different tools that can be used to do different things, this can get very confusing when you don't know which tool you need to use. And also you can't make certain shapes as easily as you can on Illustrator. One of the draw backs of Illustrator is the way that you have to filled in things that you have made using different shapes and sometime these shapes don't fit very well into what you have made.

Next time of photoshop I would like to learn how to edit images and change the way they look. For example changing how a person looks or enhance feature of something. However I think I wouldn't someone to help or show me ho to do this because there are a lot of different things you can do. I don't think I would be able to work out how to do this without help from someone else. Also on Illustrator I would like to learn what other things you can do other than designing an image using shapes. Although I find it a little easier to use illustrator I still think that I would need someone to show me about how to do this.

All of these adverts are very visual in the way they use different colours and the way the shoe is displayed.

Branding Museum Composite Image

This is a composite image of the Branding and Advertising Museum and my timeline poster.

To make this image I had to find picture of somewhere in the museum that I could insert my image into. Once I had both the images I needed to dragged both images into photoshop. I then dragged my image on the Museum image. Once i'd made the image smaller so it would fit in the right place, I placed it where I wanted it.

I then clicked on File, Transform and then perspective. I moved different sides to change which way the image angled. This was to changed the way the image looked so it was the right perspective.

Step by Step Illustrator image

 First of all I had to create a new file that was right way for my design. Once I had my blank sheet I used the line tool to create all of the straight lines in my design. I then had to change the straight one to a curved line, to do this is clicked and held down the lie tool to change it. To change the way the line curved i used the anchor.

Once i had all of my shape i wanted outline i had to insert shapes to make the shapes block colours. When i had most of my shapes fill in with colour i used the brush tool to fill in the small gaps that were white.

To insert my logo I had to drag a picture into photoshop and then i used the magnetic lasoo tool to selected the part off the image i wanted. I then copy an pasted the picture into illustrator and placed the picture where I wanted to.

Once I had all of my shapes and images I had to add the writing, place it here i wanted and then i changed the colour by selecting it and choosing the colour I

wanted.

Peer Assessment

1. This poster is designed as a shoe for the converse logo. I think they have been very successful making this on illustrator because its very details, for example where the laces join the shoe. 

2. They have used illustrator in a very creative way because of the way the shoe is designed with the laces and how the writing is displayed.

3.  They could improve he design by maybe making the shoe more of the right shape of the front. To improve there use of illustrator they could make the design smaller so it fits all on one page.

I think this photo made on illustrator is really effective because of the way the designer has chosen to only use some colours. Also these colours are only used on certain letters in the same place every time the pattern is repeated. Not only are the colours placed in a certain way I think that the main back letters and numbers make the colours stand out even more. As well as the use of colours in this piece I think the way that the pattern is repeated makes there image a lot more effective and interesting because it wouldn't be any where near as effective if the pattern of symbols were only there once instead of repeatedly. I really like this image because of the way that the writing looks like different logos or words put together but then when you look closer its different letters, numbers and symbols, i think that its very clever. 

I think this piece would be displayed in an art gallery/design gallery because of how the image looks and what it makes you think.
