Self Assessment

Self Assessment:
1. A Composite image is an image that has been made up of many other images to create the final piece.
2. I would describe a surreal image as an image that is impossible to create in real life, its not real.
3. I learnt how to add a mask layer and then make the parts of the picture visible that I wanted to be able to see on top of another image.
4. I think my piece was quite successful because i managed to uses lots of other images to create my final one and the picture i created was surreal.
5. Next time i would create i nicer image to look at that was happy.

Step by Step Composite image

First i had to find the pictures of everything i wanted to add. I first got the picture of the computer and the computer background and dragged both of the pictures into photoshop. I then had to drag the computer background picture onto the computer and added a mask layer using the square with the circle in to do this. Then i add to press shift, cmd and i to make the picture disappear so i could then go over the parts i wanted using the paint brush tool. I had to adjust the size of the brush until i got the picture the way i wanted it. Next i had to add the next picture i wanted and placed it wear i wanted and added the mask layer. I made the picture reappear where i wanted it then i did this with all the only photos until i got the final picture.

Timeline Design

This is my final timeline design for converse. I had to swap from vans to converse because there was no information about the change in the vans logo but the timeline design has stayed the same.

These were my mind map idea before i choose my final design.

Coca Cola vs Pepsi

Coca Cola vs Pepsi

Both adverts are similar in a way that they are both advertising a drink and one of the coca cola adverts are similar to both the pepsi adverts in that there are people/animals fighting for the product. Although the adverts are similar I much prefer the Christmas Coca Cola advert this advert is a lot more simple in a away but i think the it advertises the brand better. I prefer Coca Cola because both of the adverts are more cheerful and the put you in a good mood unlike the pepsi adverts they are both people fighting for things. The christmas cola advert has the logo in lights on lorries driving past a group of children and over a bridge. This advert also focusses on a specific time of the year, both season the cola adverts include in there advertising are cold and are in winter. I think they choose christmas time to make an advert like this because at christmas everyone is happy and enjoying themselves so they may not mind buying the product and when this broadcast this advert everyone knows christmas is near so they are put into a good mood. Also a lot more people will be out shopping at this time of the year so more people are likely to buy this drink. Also focusses on christmas is clever for coca cola because there colours are red and white and those are two of the main colour associated with christmas so the colours link together. Not only do the colours go to gather but also the lorries pulling the trailer with the logo and lights on could resemble santa and his slay which could make more Children want this drink. Choosing christmas to focus there advert on is a really clever way to bring in more customers. The other polar bear advert has all been animated and they have made the bears seem more human like, this also shows that everyone wants this drink not just humans so it makes it seem more popular that it actually is.

On the other hand the pepsi advert could also be an effective way the advertise because the medieval advert has everyone fighting for something but in the end the pepsi is the thing that stops the fighting. This could show that pepsi could solve anything, for example the war they were having. Both pepsi adverts involve famous footballers to make people want to buy the product because a lot of people will at least of heard of the footballer. In the advert where they play football to win the product this makes it seems like everyone wants the thing, this is similar to the second coca cola advert where they have the polar bears fighting for the drink. Both advert makes you think that everyone wants the drink and they should get it first, this is a good way of advertising there product. Personally i dont think pepsi have as good an idea for advertising there drink because both the adverts are really similar, although the cola averts have the same cold, winter theme they have a different way of advertising using the same season. All four of these adverts have one things in common they are all like mini movies in its self, they all have a story that has a beginning, middle and end. Although the pepsi adverts have a good way of advertising i definitely prefer the christmas advert for coca cola.

Self assessment

1. My timeline design reflects my logos product because vans started as a brand for skaters, so my timeline is a skate park so it shows what the product was first about.
2. We mind map idea first so we can come up with lots of different designs before we choose our final one. This way we came can up with better ideas planning than we could have straight away.
3. I'm going to use red, black and blue for my timeline because the vans logo is red and black which will fit with my timeline.
4. Illustrator will enhance my design because I will get a better more defined shape and the lines will be sharper which will create more of an effect. I will also be able to get the writing in the right place.
